Morning departure from Zagreb, pick up at the place of your accommodation. Next, we will start our drive towards Plitvice Lakes National Park. On the way to Plitvice Lakes, our guide will introduce the area’s history and the itinerary for the day. After 1 hour of driving, We arrive at Rastoke. Idyllic watermill village is often called “the Small Lakes of Plitvice”. The village found its place at the foot of the 19th-century Napoleon’s army Magazine (storage). The area of Rastoke was the eastern border part of Napoleon’s Empire. After a short stop and time for coffee, we continue to Plitvice.
Plitvice Lakes are the world’s natural heritage that has been on the UNESCO World Heritage List since 1979. We will walk along the majestic string of sixteen cascaded lakes connected with beautiful waterfalls inside the park. The tour of the National Park will take approximately 4 hours. Exploring the series of twelve interconnected lakes called the Upper Lakes (Gornja Jezera). Will include hiking along both upper and lower lakes, a boat ride over the big lake and a train ride through the park area at the end. Don’t miss seeing “Veliki Slap”, the highest waterfall in the Plitvice National Park, 78 meters high.
Finally, after the tour of Plitvice Lakes, you can enjoy “traditional lunch” (at your own expense) in one of the local restaurants. You will enjoy the stunning countryside landscape, local homemade folk-cuisine specialties, and excellent local wines. Prosciutto, Pancetta, prosciutto pate, hard cow cheese, baked potatoes and the most delicious bread. What else to look for? Following lunch, we are continuing the trip to Zagreb and expected to arrive in Zagreb at 4.30 pm.
